Both teams matched each other in all departments with the games being played at a blushing pace.

In the second half, with the scoreline still square, the Colliery went down to 10 men when Brian Conlon was sent off for a reckless challenge.

The game went into extra time with no scoreline and with penalties looming, Potters’ centre half Alex Dodds fumbled with the ball in his own penalty area only to see Barry Cook take the ball away from him and slot Hylton into the lead.

Potters stepped up their game and threw everyone forward, and with one minute to go after a goal-mouth scramble, David Keighley toe-poked the ball to send the tie into penalties.

The first three penalties where all scored with the Colliery missing their fourth which left the youngest player on the field, 18 year old Daly Clark, to move forward to take Potters’ last kick. With a lot of pressure on his young shoulders, he calmly hammered the ball into the net to take the trophy back to South Hylton.

The Game was Refereed by the League Referee of the Year, Steve Watson.

Victorious!

The Fort team beating Mountain Daisy in the Final of the Wearmouth & Hylton Aged Peoples held on Monday 27th April 2009.

George Gogden, Captain of The Fort, lifting the Wearmouth & Hylton Aged Peoples Trophy

The Group Dynamic

Re-Arranged Fixtures for 13th September 2008

Due to the weather the fixtures for 13th Septmeber 2008 have been rearranged.
