MATCH REPORT FOR SATURDAY 21^ST JANUARY 2012

PREMIER DIVISION

Farringdon Dolphin bounced back from their shock cup exit with an emphatic 10-1 win against neighbours Silksworth Golden Fleece. The win sees the Dolphin extend their lead at the top.

After conceding the first goal in their previous three games the Dolphin were looking to start the game in a more positive manner, so it was inevitable that after 2 minutes Tyson broke down the wing and crossed for Shaun Wilkie to tap home from 4 yards to give the Fleece a shock lead. With the wind behind their backs the Fleece broke through again a foul on the edge of the area stopped what looked like 2-0, Dolphin didn’t panic and were soon level Martin Hope toe poked pass the keeper from 8 yards, the Dolphin soon made in 2-1 when Hope was sent clear and his brilliant outside the boot finish nestled in the bottom corner. The Dolphin were in total control now, and Andy Place netted his 1^st goal of the afternoon when a shot from Dale Spence cannoned off his chest from a yard out for 3-1.

The second half and it was all one way traffic, Place hit an unstoppable 20 yarder into the top corner, Place was at it again playing a 1-2 with Shickle and produced a clinical finish. Martin Hope completed his 1st hat trick for the club as he raced on to a Marc Stephenson through ball the resulting 50/50 with the keeper seen Hope come out on top. Hope then turned provider as he crossed for Place to tap in, Place added his 5th from a cross from the left from livewire Dale Spence. Place headed onto the bar and volleyed in the rebound from 6 yards after a great jinking run from Spence again, Hope added his 4th when the keepers poor clearance landed to the hit man and from 20 yards he coolly lobbed the back peddling keeper for 9-1. Place got his double hat trick with 5 minutes remaining after more good play from Shickle who played in place to score at the near postto complete the scoring.

The Three Horse Shoes produced a clinical performance as they won 2-1 at a bewildered Hall Farm Blakeneys.

A game of two halves in the first half Hall Farm got off to a better start scoring their goal thanks to Dean Smith as he turned in a Grainger shot. The Shoes were close a couple of times and their reward came in the second half as they grabbed an equaliser courtesy of a Christopher Robins stunning strike. The Shoes continued to press their opponents and they got what proved to be the winning goal as Shaun McGregor pounced to score from a Jordyn Moore cross. Hall Farm nearly grabbed an unlikely equaliser in the last minute but Chris Smith pulled off a miraculous save to give the Shoes a deserved three points.

Aquatic Sports and FC Chesters put on a tremendous show of attacking football as they shared the spoils in a stupendous 4-4 draw at Downhill. Scorers for Aquatic were David Hoey, Stephen Bone, Mark Fisk and Dean Smith. Dan Hardy starred for Aquatic as did stand in keeper David Oxley.

Colonel Prior grabbed a deserved point as they drew 4-4 at West End Potters, Daniel Turnbull netted twice for Prior including the equaliser in the last seconds of the game.

FIRST DIVISION

Wearside Athletic produced their best performance of the season as they toppled lon time league leaders University of Sunderland 5-3 at Quarry View. The students couldn’t cope with the strike force of Athletic as they were led a merrydance all afternoon. John Hope-Hindmarsh smashed in a hattrick and Adam McQuillan grabbed a brace to complete a memorable victory. Uni replied with goals from Jordan Birnie, Alexandru Netolitchi and Frank Ofoezie.

Wearside Wildcats clawed their way to the top of the league with a convincing 7-0 win over bottom side Park View. Andrew Leadbitter led the way in the scoring stakes with a well taken hattrick, further goals came from Thomas Foster (2) and Will Dawson (2).

Dan Callaghan starred for Wildcats as did Ian Morris for Park View.

Seaham Harkers Bar romped to a 4-0 away win at Victoria Gardens. Star man Shane Docherty gave Harkers the lead and were labouring to a win until the mercurial Matthew Mustard came off the bench to rifle in a fine hattrick.

Bluestone Construction had Luke Clayton, Adam Bates, Brent McKenna and star man Michael Fortune on target in their 4-1 win at University of Sunderland B.

Gleneagles were involved in a right ding dong battle but managed to run out 4-3 winners against Shiney Row Wheatsheaf. Ryan Gordon and Craig Collins did the damage for Gleneagles as they both bagged two goals apiece. Tony Hammond starred for Gleneagles.

Hollycarrside breezed to a 10-1 home win against a disjointed East Durham Spartans. Leighton Stevenson and Nathan O’Neill were left to fight over the match ball as they both hit hattrcks, further goals came from Luke Bell, Ewen Elliott, Jake Bell and man of the match Paul Stokoe.

LEAGUE CHALLENGE CUP

Hylton CW coasted into the next round as they won 5-1 at Oddfellows.

The game kicked off and Oddfellows should have been ahead after 2 minutes when Stevie Allan found Livingston in the box who then fed Andy Smith but he could only shoot straight at the keeper from 6 yards out. Hyltons first attack come after 10 minutes when a right wing cross found Chris McGowan totally free in the box and he made no mistake to put the visitors ahead. Oddfellows come straight back at Hylton and should of equalised when a Middleton corner was helped on by Livingston to find Redman whose snap shot hit the crossbar. Another chance came when Andy Smith won back possession in the middle of the park and played a great 1-2 with Paul Simon to go clean through but fired his shot over the bar but to be fair was under heavy pressure by Hyltons defence. Paul Simon then fired a long range effort just wide and that was as good as it got for Oddfellows in the first half. Hylton made it 2-0 when when Dean Machin was found free on the edge of the box and his shot found the roof of the net. Machin should of grabbed his second goal 2 minutes later when he was found free in the Oddfellows box but this time brought a good save out of Donkin. Machin did though get his second and Hyltons third when a long ball got caught in the swirling wind and was misjudged by the Oddfellows defence to see Machin go clean through and he made no mistake slotting past Donkin. Machin then completed a first half hattrick when he was found in the box totally unmarked and fired past the keeper. Hylton might of had a fifth when there winger crossed from the right but midway through the cross the ref blew for halftime then a second later the ball was put into the net but the goal was not given.

Oddfellows come out for the second half looking to win back a bit pride and that went out of the window 5 minutes into the half when we made a mess of a throw in and the ball fell to Machin and he rounded Donkin and scored from a tight angle to score his fourth goal of the game. With the scoreline starting to get a little embarrassing Oddfellows finally got a goal of their own when Stevie Allans free kick found Livingston at the back post and his diving header seen the ball fall to Paul Simon who poked home from 6 yards out. With chants from the home crowd of 'we are going to win 6-5' Oddfellows created a few more chances with Paul Simon having 2 headers the first he headed over and the second he headed straight at the keeper both from Stevie Allan crosses. Then another cross from Allan found Livingston and his diving header brought a great save out of the Hyltons goalkeeper. Then Dave Redmans half way line free kick got caught up in the wind and looked to be dipping in but again Hyltons keeper was there to tip it over and from the resulting corner Whitfeild dragged a shot just wide. Hylton had the final 2 chances of the game with Ged Huntley firing just wide and then there striker went clean through rounded Donkin but then missed an open goal when the ball cannoned back of the post.

Hendon FC bounced back from last weeks cup humiliation as they handed out an 8-1 beating to cup kings FC Whitburn.

Hendon Grange also progressed with a hard earned 2-1 win against a plucky Hetton New Inn. Star man Chris Armstrong hit a consolation goal for Hetton.

Uo to the end of November there were 255 yellow cards and some 29 red cards issue at a total Admin cost of almost £3k. this is not including the cost of fines and the silly clubs who let the county add extra fee for non payment. On club extra cost ran to over £400.00p. We must try and improve on these cards I want a reduction in the new year. Well done to FC Whitburn and Seaham Hackers Bar with only one caution each, keep up the good work.

Management Committee Minutes Tuesday 11th October 2011

League Management meeting held on Tuesday 11^th October 2011 commencing at 7.00pm.

Present: Frank Thompson, Peter Maguire, Mick Grant, Jim Johnson, Keith Brazier,

Michael Lynch, Lee Bogan, Ken Drysdale and Peter Ramsey.

Apologies: Wilf Lazenby, Les Hunter, Derek Errington, Rob King, Tony Dunlop, Craig

Parkinson and Dave Hill.

The meeting was called to discuss and decide what action to take regarding the following;

League Fees - Peter informed the committee that four clubs had still not made a payment for their league fees. He had contacted each of the clubs who explained why payment had not yet been paid and was assured by each club that payment would be made in full within the next few weeks. Peter also reported that the county were due to make their payment of £50.00 towards the league fees for each club, but was advised that any club with outstanding fines or monies owed to the county would not receive the £50.00 payment.

Insurance - The management committee were advised that there were 90 players from a number of clubs who had still not paid their insurance. The committee decided that forthwith, unless special permission is granted, all these players will be suspended from the league until payment is received. It is the responsibility of the club for the payment and this must be done within 28 days. If clubs do not want these players to be suspended from the league, please arrange immediate payment. Again, as this is money owed to the county, your club’s £50.00 league fees payment will not be paid until resolved.

Registrations - As a result of checking player’s details on the database created to monitor the payment of individual players insurance throughout leagues, it had come to light that a player is registered in both the Combination league and the Sunday league under different names. The committee decided that the player concerned be immediately suspended from our league until he provides official proof of his correct name by producing either his Birth Certificate or Driving Licence.

Being no other business the meeting closed at 8.45pm.

Subs should be highlight when they are used showing A mark against the first sub used and A against the person he replaces the for second and third using B and C.
